Celebration Of International Cat Day

International Cat Day is celebrated on August 8 - a day to honour one of the most ubiquitous and oldest pets of mankind. They've even been regarded as deities by some (we see you, Egypt.) Cats are among the most interesting creatures on the earth for a variety of reasons: they are independent, curious, adventurous, and endowed with an amazing physiognomy, not to mention the ability to repair themselves most of the time.

HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY

  • Even though they are descended from the African Wildcat and were employed to catch vermin, cats are predatory little furry creatures that humans have domesticated as pets since ancient times.

 

  • Cats were originally mentioned by humans in the culture of the Ancient Egyptians. When we think of Egypt, we think of cats and their worship and reverence as gods. During the First Dynasty, Mafdet, the first recorded cat deity, was revered as a guardian against serpents, scorpions, and the forces of evil.
  • Cats are predatory small furry creatures that humans have domesticated as pets from ancient times, despite the fact that they are descended from the African Wildcat and were used to catch vermin.

 

  • First, humans began to reference cats in the Ancient Egyptian society. When we think of Egypt, we think of cats and their devotion as gods. As a protector against serpents, scorpions and the powers of evil, the Earliest Dynasty venerated the first known cat deity, Mafdet.

 

Significance:

International Cat Day holds a lot of importance for cat lovers. Not every cat is fortunate enough to live in luxurious houses, sleep on soft couches, and get tasty food. There are many stray felines who are not treated nicely and even go through abuse.

 

So, this day holds a significance for not just cat lovers, but all those who are real animal lovers. International Cat Day is a big occasion for those who want to protect and provide comfort to these creatures.

How to celebrate:

Adopting a cat from a stray or a shelter is a great way to commemorate International Cat Day. There are a lot of hungry kittens out there who haven't had any food in days. Many of these cats succumb to adverse weather conditions or human mistreatment because they lack adequate shelter.

 

If you want to keep your pets safe, you can adopt them. It's also possible to buy a new toy for your cat. That's a good idea, and it will be grateful. Don't forget to devote some of your free time to them. Nothing will please a pet more than attention.
